Loggerheads in Mississippi

For the first time in two decades, someone has found Loggerhead turtle nests on the beaches of mainland Mississippi. (Via Jaymi Heimbuch)


  1. Sounds to me like these ones are the beachhead turtles, establishing a foothold for the loggerheads to land later…

    1. The big surprise is that relatively large, slow-breeding life has managed to find a way.

      Assorted slime, fungi, and pathogens might as well be legacy admissions when it comes to finding a way; but large, charismatic animals are fraught at best…
