Well, consider Emperor Palpatine cast and ready for his closeup. When asked during his first appearance at a Star Wars event in Orlando, Ian McDiarmid said that if Lucas & Co. come calling in case that storied, epic Star Wars TV series gets off the ground, he will be ready to reprise the role he played in five out of six of the franchise's films. Said the Emperor: "It would be nice if one day they would be followed up…who knows? Who knows if Palpatine would be in it? ... If he happened to pop up in the script I would hate if it was to go live and someone else were to be in it." You know who else would hate it? Probably everyone. Everyone. We'll be in touch, sir. He only played the Emperor in 4 of the films, not counting George Lucas’ Special Edition bullshit wherein McDiarmid was scrubbed in over the combined performance of Clive Revill/ Elaine Baker in The Empire Strikes Back.

I have been watching Star Wars regularly since the mid-80s, when my mum taped the trilogy off the TV. Only recently, in my early 30s did I realise that Emperor Palpatine has a Scottish accent.

You know, some of the spinoff stuff like the comics and novels are pretty good. The games, even thew hand-drawn series by genddy tartekofski(sp) was VERY good imo. I want this show to happen. =/

For me to finally get the Star Wars that I truly want, the Star Wars of my childhood (clouded by nostalgia, as they are …which is proof enough that hindsight is NOT 20/20), Lucas will have to die first; because all Lucas is doing now is making hundred-million-dollar-plus home-movies just to entertain his own idiot kids.

Wake me up sometime around 2043…
