Disney is going to continue the Star Wars saga, producing movies set to hit theaters starting in 2015. Can you confirm whether you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?

    Well, the reporter reportedly asked whether “you’ll” (you will) as opposed to “you’d” (you would).

      Not quite the same. He asked, “Can you confirm whether [or not] you’ll reprise the role of Princess Leia?” The answer is ambiguous and just says “Yes [I can confirm whether or not I will return as Leia].” The reporter should have followed it up with, “Will you be?” I know it seems finicky, but it is ambiguous and it is the reporter’s job to remove that. I argue the reporter missed their mark by not asking a direct question and missed again by not asking a natural follow-up.

        For sure; I recently read an interview with Robert Khoo from Penny-Arcade where the interviewer points out the great pains he must take when asking Robert questions because he loves to take advantage of ambiguous statements like this and give dodgy answers that are factually correct but might not mean what you assume. I love it!

          No, but what happens in Vegas doesn’t actually stay in Vegas. Your right to privacy is compromised when you go out in public. I think that the world would be a pleasanter place if news hadn’t been redefined to mostly mean gossip, but there’s not much that you can do about it. And she has clearly made her psychological issues public.
