Australian actor, DJ, and artist Ruby Rose identifies as genderfluid, and she made this short film called “Break Free” about “gender roles, Trans, and what it is like to have an identity that deviates from the status quo.”
She begins the film as a very conventional looking long-haired blonde woman and slowly cuts, strips, and washes away the signifiers of stereotypical femininity until she arrives at her everyday look.
Those who want to see more of Rose’s work are in luck: She's joining the cast of Orange Is The New Black in the show’s upcoming third season, which premieres in its entirety on Netflix on June 12.
Just what we needed, said exactly no one.
