A look back at children's TV show pioneer, Captain Kangaroo

As a happy mutant of a certain age, I grew up watching Captain Kangaroo. I have always wondered how much of my impulse to make and fix things came from Mr. Green Jeans, my favorite character on the show. I am sure that his constantly fixing things around the "Treasure House" inspired me, at maybe 6, to climb onto the kitchen counter to try and "repair" the toaster — while it was still plugged in!

In this episode of The History Guy, he looks back on the long-running children's program and the career of Bob Keeshan (a.k.a. the Captain).
