First: as I publish this post, Twitter's about to hit the 10 billion tweet milestone. @poeks & @sween asked friends to film their favorite tweets, and this video is what resulted. They explain:

criterionth.jpg We didn't care how they did it. They could read it. They could act it. They could do it with puppets. Whatever they wanted. The only rules were it had to be a tweet written by someone else and it had to contain the entire tweet and nothing but the tweet.

It’s kind of ironic that this montage of zippy, lightweight ephemera drags along like a procession of sloths on valium.

    • Felton

like a procession of sloths on valium

      Simile of the day. :-)

flamingohead FTW, i agree. new favorite saying. these remind me why i love twitter. people are observant, cynical, and funny. humanity is awesome.

  • MelSkunk

The penultimate tweet is now gonna be a new motto for me. Thank you, Ms. Flamingohead! (Plus I get to say penultimate.. sweet!)

  • beecaper

The ragtime one is effing hilarious.

  • linenoise

The ten billionth tweet wasn’t public. The ten billionth and first one however, is.

    Fitting.

Like most of these videos, the people in them aren’t nearly as funny as they think they are, but I will admit that some of tweets were pretty good.

I swear the thumbs one sounds like something Bug Eyed Earl would say.

  • lovelystrangeness

I prefer the prolonged urination banter in the comments on the Vimeo page.

  • yidago

    I. Loved. This.

who gives a %&#$ about twitter! am i alone here? 10 billion texts about the mundanest of crap! why do we celebrate this? and don’t say iran, because it hasn’t made one bit of difference except to make desk people in the first world feel like they’re somehow moral because they know about what’s happening on the ground. this stuff is making us dumber by sapping the very definition of meaning right out of reality. the fact that i’m even wasting my time commenting on this crap makes me ant to shut up so i’ll

    • Matt J

Why the fuck are you wasting your time posting here then? There are plenty of people who do enjoy Twitter and just because you don’t get it doesn’t make it useless.

Has anyone ever watched the show INST MSGS on Revision 3? They act out craigslist ads and the like :)

This reminds me of it. I like them all.
