It was inevitable. Bridgemary Kiss covers "Enter the Ninja" by Die Antwoord (thanks, Adam Stanhope).

Has anyone noticed that Rihanna’s video for “Rude Boy” features a very similar black and white child-drawing room? Did Die Antwoord originate it, or is it a homage to another artist?

Can you really to a spoof of a a band who is essentially a spoof?

And yes, there needs to be a band called Random Dudes on Youtube.

  • wrybread

Wow that was thoroughly great. So far every little chapter in the Die Antwoord saga has been this weird mix of hilarious and phenomenal.

But man, painful watching that guy doing Yo-Landi’s dancing.

  • macrumpton

It did not go far enough imo, straddling the mocking/imitation divide too evenly. On the other hand I burst out laughing at the ninja drummer with his sword drumsticks. Somehow the whole thing reminded me of the “Banana Splits” or H.R. Puffinstuff.

  • Trotsky

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that alcohol played a prominent role in the creation of this video.

  • Wingo

Man, screw these guys for doing exactly what I wanted to do, except better than I would have.

I actually got chills at one point. Made my Friday.

  • Antinous / Moderator

    This video is missing something.

I fully approve of the new Yolandi, though.

In their Maxnormal.tv video they credit the photographer Roger Ballen’s work being the basis for Yolandi’s tracksuit. The suit has a similar look to the child-drawing room so I would assume it was also inspired by him.

    I love the sharpie tattoos!

  • Manooshi

    Frickin’ LOL!!

I don’t know, you guys. These Random Dudes don’t seem to be doing enough tweek to really get to the car-crash, Zef-level shit.

Wow, this is the coolest thing I’ve seen all week. I think their version sounds better, and the video causes me less cognitive dissonance that the original.

  • Drinking the well

“Random dudes on youtube” is the bestest bandname I heard all week :)

    So Much WIN!

  • bassplayinben

unknown band + cover of controversial buzz band’s most well-konwn song = short period of buzz for unknown band

but will they be able to capitalize on it?
