Sigurdur Gustafsson's motley "Copy and Paste Chair" is made from oak, red, black, white and natural with poly carbonate plates, and limited to 100 signed pieces.

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

    Talk about Ikea hacks…

Mom always told me, “quit leaning back in your chair”. This is her revenge.

My back! My spine! My ass! Owtch!

Wasn’t form supposed to Follow function? Not here. . .

polycarbonate is usually a single word

  • EH

I’d like it better if it were assembled with cleaner joinery. That, and the similarity of the red and wood legs bugs me, so I guess it’s at least provocative.

  • biophile

Maybe something got lost in translation here. Oak and ‘poly carbonate’ are the only real materials; ‘red, black, white and natural’ are colours. And as a design concept it’s pure meh.

Diesel does the same thing with their “Frankenwatch” series: http://www.watchismo.com/diesel-frankenwatch.aspx

    Looks comfortable.
So, buy 100 cheap chairs; chop up; reassemble; get rich. Maybe artists aren’t so dumb after all.
