[Video Link] Strangefriend says: "Ukulele player Molly Lewis plays a song offering to bear Stephen Fry's baby."

Gary Peare adds: "After you've watched the above video, check out this video of Molly serenading Mr. Fry himself at a ceremony during which he received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Cultural Humanism from Harvard on February 22, 2011. (Begins at the 3:00 mark)."

Pthththth…Stephen Fry should have Molly’s baby. I’ve always liked her old Toxic cover:

If you haven’t seen it, which many USA folks haven’t far as I can tell, check out Quite Interesting (QI). Great show and Stephen gets to show off how smart he is ;-)

Regarding “Hugh Laurie is better” – HAH. Steven could kick Hugh’s ass any day of the week! I’m sure he wouldn’t though, they were actually college roommates :-P

Why would anyone try and contrast Fry & Laurie and say one was better than the other? These 2 are a great example of how there is more than one “type” of genius. Stephen’s more your standard genius, along bookish lines; I’m more that type myself. Hugh is a more-varied genius. The man can do absolutely anything and do it all amazingly well. Stephen’s known this for years and has generously said so. I adore them both!

It’s possible for Americans to see some of QI online, in spite of the BBC’s apparent determination to keep it away from us. I mean, BBC America shows “Next Generation” reruns in prime time (’cause Patrick Stewart is English, I guess) and continually shoves Gordon Ramsay down our throats, but not a whisper of QI. Nor have they offered it for sale on the North American DVD format.

I suppose I can’t entirely fault BBC America, since QI is full of Britishisms and is sometimes hard to follow for us Yanks. But couldn’t they air it at 3 a.m. or something?

I had the good fortune to get to see her perform this ditty live at w00tstock!

Molly is really talented. I think Mr. Fry should consider her offer. They could definitely create a child whose ability to entertain others would be on the scale of Superman’s ability to fly.

  • Fang Xianfu

It would be an immense shame for Stephen, England, and humanity as a whole if he never reproduced. So no pressure ;)

  • RockingJamboree

Mike Lombardo (a collaborator and compatriot of Molly Lewis’, they’ve shared the stage in the “Mike and Molly Show”) also recorded a Stephen Fry tribute, “Viva La Fry.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwdPNJTHryQ

Was that being recorded with a Samson cu01??

  • Dirac

    Much better audio here:,

you can also watch the whole event starting here: , which is what I am about to do :)

  • dculberson

She would have to sing this song after hooking up with him:

  • Manooshi

Lol. I have those same lime-green headphones!

She’s wearing a Paul and Storm shirt while singing. (commonly seen touring with JoCo)

Not to put a downer on it much, but…isn’t it really his mind she wants to have babies with?

It’s sort of wanting to make love to a persona. Which is wonderful, but I don’t know if the emotional side is sort of worked out with our Fry man, making the lifetime agreement sustainable beyond a few 3am conversations. I have also noticed that people in the spotlight seem to believe that: since they are in the spotlight, what they do is fine, because if it wasn’t fine, or rather, they suffered consequences from their actions, people wouldn’t like them. So, they carry on, they’ll be loved anyway.

Also, which part of Fry’s life is she enamoured with? The Fry and Laurie part (which, really, like, is where they both made their mainstream mark in all BBC-comedy-accepting countries) or the stuff on Twitter and his Oscar Wilde film e.g.? Just asking.

And his body is a bit fat. Or hyperlipidous.
    He smokes.
    Probably other things.

But she is cute and various other nice things that makes her seem delicious.

Will she accept Peter Richardson in the meantime?

  • Attack Hamster

    The man’s ghastly.

    • robulus

Stephen Fry rocks! In what way do you find him ghastly?

  • zuludaddy

Delightful indeed, and I’d submitterated the serenade of Mr Fry yesterday afternoon… [whatamichoppedliver?]

  • PrettyBoyTim

Not had a chance to listen to it yet. Does it include the line “Fill me with your little babies!” ?

  • Noodle

    Lovely, and scary

  • The Hamster King

How does she feel about Ray Bradbury?

  • weatherman

What a lovely and hilarious song. She has to be one of the most talented stalkers I’ve seen.

  • saru

Kate Beaton would call this song a shitty, disrespectful compliment.

  • facetedjewel

Please keep us updated. I’d be delighted to hear if Stephen chooses to take her up on the offer. Two very talented people – lucky kid.

  • Guysmiley

Molly is awesome! She’s also done some fun stuff on stage with Jonathan Coulton (the Portal theme song guy). Her rendition of Tom Cruise Crazy is especially awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTMYk3MqzfQ

Can’t wait to hear Stephen Fry’s response! I bet it’s in song (or at least verse)

  • Thoaar

    Yay! Finally some Molly love

  • burritoflats

Among myself and my lady friends, we’re more Hugh Laurie fans. He’s better looking, less stuffy and he has a big TV show. And he plays a mean piano!

    • Chong

Hugh Laurie is also somewhat less homosexual, and thus is more achievable. You made the right choice.

      • jungletek

Can’t believe it took that long for someone to point out this fact, unless everyone else is too cool to mention such an obvious (but not necessarily deal-breaking) impediment.

        • robulus

I think that’s the point of the song. It’s about making sure Mr. Fry’s genes stay in the pool.

    • robulus

      You mean this guy?
