Pianocade, a synthesizer that looks like an arcade control panel

The open-source Pianocade synthesizer uses classic game system hardware inside and out to create a programmable, hackable USB Midi controller. I must say, though, that the design conceit is so successful I want a two-player arcade stick that looks exactly like it. A pleasantly pointless and friend-irritating project would be to build one of these with real coin slots, so you have to keep pumping quarters to keep the controls working. [via Uncrate]
