How thick is the EL panel? Has anybody tried cutting with a vinyl plotter? You could get some really nice intricasies if it worked.

0.34mm. I tried cutting it with my Silhouette for my Glowing Super Bowl Helmets project (I know you can google it), but it’s pretty dense and strained the machine, I’m sure it’s not great for the blade either… Maybe with a more industrial-level vinyl cutter you’d have better luck.

very cool! I’m not usually that into wearable electronics for fashion, but these are subtle and tasteful.

I wish I could do this with my teeth.

    The ESL panel, not skateboarding.

Cool, but it would irritate the crap out of me to have the inverter stuck in the tongue of my shoes.

I was recently at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky, and as I was getting out of the car a young family parked next to me with diplomatic plates – I later found out the guy works at the Russian consulate in New York City and was presumably on vacation with his family checking out national parks and such.

The young daughter was wearing those shoes that flash brightly when you walk that were cool for a few years when I was a kid (in the 90′s). Cute kid, but kind of annoying during a tour of a dark cave.

How often do you have to replace the batteries?

I would have given anything to have my black, hightop Cons glow in 1966!
The closest I could get was florescent orange shoe laces :)
