Patrick Flanagan, frontman of cyborg percussion ensemble Jazari, wields a Wiimote and his DIY Arduino device of springbok horns, zebra wood, and arcade buttons to trigger solenoids that strike drums and to control processing applied to his voice. While environmental concerns will likely prevent mass adoption of horn-based music devices, Flanagan has made his talkbox-like vocal effect available to all Android users with a free app called Voloco. — By Jazari at 9:22 AM Mon

The Anywhere Organ (http://www.darkroastedbl)

Matthew "I make things, and I make things awesome", says Matthew Borgani. He's been working on his enormous mobile interactive musical sculpture called The Anywhere Organ for almost a year. It's made of organ pipes salvaged from discarded church organs. With a combination of some electronics and CAD driven laser cut plywood he's designed a system that can easily be expanded as he gathers more pipes and add to the system. Kickstarter for Steampunk Opera (http://www.kickstarter.c)

Thought BB readers might like this: an awesomely eclectic-looking steampunk opera "Queen Victoria's Floating Garden of Secrets" that's staging a preview performance at The Great New England Steampunk Exhibition. Says the 'starter page, "Pirate lasses mutiny, womenfolk can't keep their petticoats down, contraptions impressively malfunction, and frank discussions of anatomy are all in a day's work while in service to Her Majesty the Queen." — By Aaron at 10:00 AM Fri
