The brother of pop entertainer Nicki Minaj has been charged with raping a child, reports local Long Island/NYC paper Newsday.
Jelani Maraj, 37, of Baldwin NY, was arraigned Thursday on first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, online court and jail records show. A source speaking to Newsday says the child is 12 years old. The charges were filed in Nassau County, New York.
Bail was set at $100,000, according to a spokerperson for the Nassau district attorney’s office. Officials have not commented on the circumstances of the case, the age of the child, or how the alleged crime came to the attention of authorities.
