Hobbyist gold miners are a joy to behold. Their enthusiasm in panning for gold and running sand through sluices is clearly a labor of love. Watch as they put all their gear through its paces, with their delight and fascination never waning.
Their technique involves running black sand through a series of mats and catches of varying sizes and depths. The heavier gold gets caught, and the black sand washes through. "Not our biggest clean out but our best clean up. Even this day surprised us, since we been coming out here so often." They've obviously invested thousands of dollars in their hobby, not to mention the time, but it's clearly well worth it all for them at every step of the process.
