Children's Fairyland is the circa 1950 storybook theme park in Oakland, California where…
Walt Disney took inspiration from to build Disneyland;
Frank Oz got his start as a puppeteer;
It's also where Blindspotting creators Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal will host an online event called Celebrity Storytime this Saturday, September 26 at 6:30 p.m. Rafael, a Bay Area native, read a news article about how the park was hurting financially due to a forced pandemic closure and offered to throw some of his star power around to help. What came out of that offer is nothing short of downright magical. Famous folks with local roots (Kamala Harris, W. Kamau Bell, Boots Riley, just to name a few) were enlisted to sing songs, read stories, and be part of an ongoing digital library that the community can access.
It's a fundraiser but registration to this online family-friendly event is completely free. And, you don't have to be local to enjoy the show. You just need a device with internet access.

(Fairyland is also where I work when I'm not blogging for Boing Boing. I'm really proud to be part of the team behind Celebrity Storytime!)
