Texas schools using dress codes to circumvent governor's mask ban

NBC News reports that several school districts in Texas, banned by Gov. Greg Abbott from mandating masks to fight the increase in Covid-19 cases, are simply adding masks to their standard dress codes to circumvent the prohibition.

The vote was 5-1 to alter the dress code in the district, which will welcome back students on Thursday.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended last month that all students in kindergarten through 12th grade wear masks when they return to classrooms, even those who have already been vaccinated.

The vote came the same day that Abbott's office announced that the governor had tested positive for Covid-19. Abbott is fully vaccinated, his office said.

If you think it funny that right wingers are about to blow up school dress codes after generations of obsessively enforcing them, just so they can remove an obstacle to next semester's Covid death march, you're forgetting that they couldn't care less if you think they're hypocrites and they couldn't care less about their children.
