Walrus may be given "floating couch" to deter it from relaxing on people's boats and sinking them

A walrus named Wally has been hanging around the southern and southeastern coast of Ireland lately. Apparently Wally enjoys chilling out in parked boats as seen in the video below. The problem is that he's sank more than one of them. Now though, Seal Rescue Ireland has secured a special pontoon that may be placed in the water for Wally to relax and hopefully deter him from turning people's vessels into flop houses. According to Seal Rescue Ireland (SRI), the pontoon has three raised sides that make it resemble a couch. From the Irish Examiner:

It is ready to be deployed quickly if there are more sightings of Wally in busy harbour areas over the coming days.

A boat owner who lost his vessel to Wally last week used towels to gather the animal's scent before the boat sank.

Those towels have now been used to scent the pontoon in the hope of encouraging Wally to use it when or if it is deployed.
