Contemporary psych minimalists Wooden Shjips invite us on another gorgeous expedition into space rock with their latest release Back To Land, available November 12 on Thrill Jockey Records. Following up on their epic LP "West" of 2011, Back to Land is an even more refined headtrip that trances me out like Velvet Underground, Love and Rockets, and Spacemen 3 have in previous decades. The crunchy guitar again dances with organic organ grooves but is tempered this time around with increased acoustic instrumentation. Indeed, the first teaser track available from Back To Land is an acoustic version of one of the album tracks, titled "These Shadows." Boing Boing is pleased to premiere it here above, and you can purchase it on iTunes. You can also pre-order the full album "Back To Land" from iTunes and receive "These Shadows (Acoustic Version)" as an instant bonus. Of course, if you're like me and yearn for vinyl, Thrill Jockey comes through with a beautiful LP version on pink vinyl in a tip-on gatefold jacket. A free download coupon is included and early pre-order customers will receive a bonus 7" containing These Shadows (Acoustic Version) and another non-LP track, "Colors." There have been dozens and dozens of versions of the spiritual Wade in the Water. This version, recorded in 1965 by the Ramsey Lewis Trio, is my favorite.
Yeah, Bluetooth audio is pretty common these days, so why should you care about these earbuds? Look how happy that woman up above looks. She’s got FRESHeBUDS in. Boom. There’s your reason. She’s also at the beach and it appears to be a very nice day.But for the sake of promotion, wireless earbuds are fast becoming the […]
“Gets stuff done,” is a good way to be described by anybody. Especially by coworkers or bosses. Because whether you’re in finance or a children’s librarian, stuff needs to get done. But how do you make sure stuff gets done? You definitely can’t do all the stuff yourself, unless your company/organization/government office consists entirely of you. And […]
Even the most expensive pair of hi-fi headphones can’t match the feeling of bass rumbling through your body at a live show. That’s why music aficionados designed The Basslet, an accessory that reproduces that sensation from your wrist. Does it make your whole body shake with deep subs? Not really, because that would be terrifying, but […]
