Second presidential debate to be virtual; Trump says he won't turn up.

Following Donald Trump's Covid diagnosis, the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates has announced that his second face-off with Joe Biden would be virtual. Trump, however, says that he won't turn up.

"I'm not going to waste my time on a virtual debate" with Biden, Trump told Fox News, moments after the Commission on Presidential Debates announced the changes due to Trump's diagnosis.

That cast serious doubts on whether the event will go forward, even as Biden's campaign vowed that its candidate will participate.

"Vice President Biden looks forward to speaking directly to the American people," deputy Biden campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said in a statement.

Trump is likely in no fit state to debate anyway, so this is a convenient out for him.

Biden should debate Jo Jorgenson, the Libertarian candidate, instead.
