Banana-obsessed beaver makes brilliant ASMR

I can't stop watching videos of a beaver named Tulip who is absolutely OBSESSED with bananas. Tulip came to Something Wild wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center when she was a tiny sick baby, after a kind human found her stranded and all alone after her home was destroyed. Dr. Holley Muraco, a scientist and wildlife rehabber who works at the center and who is also a Research Professor at Mississippi State University, nursed Tulip back to health, and now she's queen of the sanctuary and foster mom to all of the orphaned baby beavers who come into the rehab. Tulip gets lots of love from both human and beaver alike, along with pleanty of bananas and other healthy fruits and vegetables. And we're lucky that Dr. Muraco and the other rehabbers provide us with a peek into life with beavers — and some top-notch beaver ASMR — via their social media posts.

Watch Tulip chowing down on bananas with absolute gusto. The little squeaks and whines and grunts and cries she makes when she thinks she's being denied her favorite treat are so cute and hilarious. Honestly, she sounds like a toddler throwing a tantrum! In the comments of this video, Dr. Muraco provides some information about beaver diets, explaining that beavers are "hind gut fermenters," which means that they have specialized bacteria in their guts that help them break down plant matter. While Tulip and the other beavers love naturally sweet foods like bananas, appleswatermelon, and grapes, they only receive them in moderation. Their main diets consists of greens and root vegetables like sweet potatoes

Something Wild is a 501c3 nonprofit that focuses on rescuing, conserving, and researching animals in need — with a particular focus on providing specialized care for North American beavers, both orphaned infants and injured adults. The sanctuary operates on 35 acres of wilderness in Hancock County, Mississippi, and is home to some of the cutest beavers you've ever seen — Tulip, Blossom, Sprout, Stormy Rose, Windy, Willow, Wilbur, Fern, Charlotte, Buttercup, and more. The beavers also contribute to research focused on beaver behavior, physiology, veterinary care, and ecology, thanks to Dr. Muraco.

The folks at Something Wild love to educate the general public about how valuable North American Beavers are for the environment, and they share their passion for this wonderful creature via social media, where they capture, as they explain, "how amazing these animals are, by simply showing how they live their everyday" lives.
