Daniel Reese's Batman and Robin custom-painted sneakers are damned cool -- I'm especially partial to the Robins. There's a large selection of custom kicks at Brassmonki.com, on a wide variety of pop culture themes.

Batman & Robin *BUY NOW* (via Geekologie)

  • Porn parody of 1960s Batman show
  • Batman Lightsaber Shark
  • Pug sings Batman TV theme
  • Great blooming agave, Batman!
  • Great Batman panels
  • Science of becoming Batman
  • Eccentric dude puts lyrics to famous film scores (like Batman ...
  • Bat-Manga: the lost Japanese Batman comics of 1966

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Whats the legality about doing something like this? Having visited the site it doesn’t seem he pays royalties or licensing fees.

  • lobizao

I was thinking I was way ignorant and that maybe £ 500.00 wasn’t as much as I thought, but based on everyone’s reaction, I guess it’s the buttload of money that I thought it was. I wonder if they’ve sold any shoes for that price

    • Itsumishi

People pay crazy amounts of money for custom kicks.

When I had more money than I do now I was spending $200AUD about 5 or 6 times a year on sneakers. I barely even thought about it.

I would have spent much more than that had I come across something like this.

All that said and done. $200 to blow on something isn’t something I’ve got anymore. If I want to spend that amount of money I have to put it aside and think about it…. damn budgets.

I want to see the versions of these that he’s actually painted. Most of the pics on his site are photoshopped shoes with color and a image added, not too many shoes featured that he’s ACTUALLY hand painted. Seeing these digitally colored comps is nice & all but I want to see the real deal before giving him any props. Have they been made yet?

  • Yikes120

Yeah these are sweet! The colorway is just nice.. DC Comics converse super hero sneakers I think is better though….http://whollysblog.com/wordpress/converse-dc-comics-chuck-taylor-collection/

Super Heroes are cool but Villains have more fun. Check out these Joker custom kicks: http://pimpmykicks.com/2010/09/13/joker-custom-nike-air-force-ones-af1s/

Batman and Robin? I think that “R” stands for rasta… they look all Jamaican to me

Does anyone ever intentionally dress like Robin? I always thought it was something that happened accidentally, a result of inattentive dressing, and resulted in a shocked realization, tittering of strangers, and a few hours’ humiliation.

i love the superhero sneakers=) but i wanted to know how much they were. thanks!!!

  • Peripatet

Tres cool. But at 500 GBP, I’ll pass, TYVM.

Maybe Green Lantern has some of his castoffs on eBay. . .

  • PrettyBoyTim

I like the Buzz Lightyear ones, but £750? I guess each one is hand-painted by someone in Woking.

I guess it must be possible to buy the plain white sneakers and create your own…

  • S1s3but0

    There you go:

I reckon it has the same price tag though.

  • MarkM

For £500.00, I’d rather buy that Jet-Pack I’ve been looking at, and keep my high-top chuck taylors.

  • Itsumishi

Man, those are some very fly kicks.

I’m usually fairly eh about Nikes, but man.
