I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). Really? Even if that thing captured half of the vicious mania of the original Goya, it would be a pale, paint-by-numbers (in multiple ways) exercise in tepid pulp. Fun for a lark, but don’t pay money for that junk food.

    What’s with this immediate application of the “troll” label? Did I say anything gratuitously provocative? Am I a failed artist whom you know to be prone to jealousy (I’m not, nor do I even know if this artist is actually successful in any way)? Or was what I said an actual criticism that you just didn’t like? It’s plainly the latter, and the most substantive thing your reply contained was the completely arbitrary use of “penis envy”, which makes your comment the rhetorical equivalent of “umadbro?”, or a racial slur, or really any of the internet’s other empty slings. So who’s the troll?
    
    The argument over what’s art or not is an ACTUAL argument we could have. Feel free to try it out.
