We bought the LEGO Star Wars Rebels 'The Phantom' for the included minifigs

My daughter built The Phantom. I wanted the Chopper and Grand Admiral Thrawn minifigs, (Kanan is ok too.)

She had a great time building the set in an afternoon. The laser canon work and the projectiles sting a little. The minifigs are delightful.

Star Wars Rebels season four promises excitement

The final season of Star Wars Rebels looks intense.

We knew from the beginning of the series run that some of these characters would have to die before the timeline caught up with A New Hope. Rogue One made it clear how Star Wars deals with those situations.

May the force be with them. Read the rest

Star Wars Rebels season three draws to an end

Season three of Star Wars Rebels has been fantastic! This week promises an epic showdown.

This season we've seen Mon Mothma bring the rebel fleet together, the Mandalorians begin to throw off the yoke of the Empire, and Obi-Wan dispatched an old evil in pure Kenobi style. Now, Grand Admiral Thrawn is set to spring his trap, destroy Phoenix Squadron and cripple the Rebellion.

We may know how this works out in the end, but watching them get there is a lot of fun. Read the rest

Fantastic vinyl Star Wars Rebels Chopper bobblehead

This is a beautiful model of Chopper. Star Wars Rebels C1-10P is a sociopathic astromech, and my favorite droid!

Rescued from the wreckage of a Clone Wars Y Wing fighter by a young Hera Syndulla, Chopper is one cantankerous old warrior. I've loved him the first, and watched dutifully for his appearance in Rogue One. My favorite scene with Chop is probably the one where he suggests leaving an annoying force-sensitive baby on a boobytrapped starship.

Now Chopper can hang out next to the BB-8 I never play with.

Obi-Wan Kenobi to appear in Star Wars Rebels

We already knew the second half of Season 3 was going bring us Saw Gerrera. The most recent trailer's final moment is a glimpse of Obi-Wan adopting his classic Form III opening stance and preparing to fight.

Even my dogs settle down to watch Rebels. Read the rest

Chopper's 'Rogue One' cameo

My favorite Star Wars characters are the droids, and the best of them all is cantankerous C1-10P, or Chopper from Star Wars Rebels. Seems someone agrees with me, as Chopper was the one Rebels character to make the jump to live-action in Rogue One.

MovieWeb shares more backstory:

StarWars.com caught up with Lucasfilm Story Group's Matt Martin to chat about the exciting Easter eggs scattered through the movie's two hour runtime. He actually had the prevlage of operating Chopper while the droid's scene was shot on Yavin 4. He says this about the experience.

"It was really surreal. I wasn't actually there for the purpose of operating a droid. The Rogue One production team asked to have Chop shipped over and we were more than happy to do so. An animated character in a live action movie...and it's OUR Chopper! Awesome! A few weeks later I was sent over to help produce some behind-the-scenes content for StarWars.com and it happened to be when they were shooting in the Yavin set. I saw my buddy Chopper sitting there with all the other droids, as well as some of my friends who were brought onto the production to build and operate the droids. When Chopper was called in for one of the scenes, Lee Towersey on the droid team just handed me Chop's control and said, "You know how to do this, right?" You can't really tell since it's so brief in the film, but the scene was actually really intense.

Star Wars Rebels season three trailer

I did not want this trailer to be over!

The characters appear to have aged a few years. No sign of Ahsoka but we'll evidently get to see a young Wedge Antilles! Hard core fans of the novels will be thrilled to see Grand Admiral Thrawn reenter the Star Wars canon universe.

If you haven't seen them, the first two seasons of Star Wars Rebels are fantastic! Read the rest

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 is off to a strong start

There was some serious excitement in our home this weekend, as my daughter and I prepared to watch Star Wars Rebels: The Siege of Lothal, and then the Season Two opener.

Star Wars: Rebels may be my very favorite storyline in the Star Wars universe, and Season 2 starts off with a bang! Rebels rejoins the dissatisfied crew of the Ghost several years after the fall of the Republic, as their struggle against the Empire continues! This is a dark time for the galaxy and a worse one for the Rebels, as they've caught the attention of Darth Vader.

This is no later-in-life, maybe considering the path he's taken, willing to hear Luke's pleading Darth Vader. This is Vader at the very prime of his evil! A Vader who orders mass murder like it is just another Tuesday. The Vader we knew existed but barely got to see. Darth Vader.

This is my favorite cast of Star Wars characters. The writers are doing an amazing job at growing them, and bringing back some folks we really wanted to see. I haven't been this excited about a TV series in a while. C1-10P, Zeb, Hera, Sabine and Kanan Jarrus are wonderful! Ezra is your stock Star Wars whiny teen dude about to become a Jedi, but they seem to be trying to develop him.

Siege of Lothal is a wonderful 44 minute mini-movie that sets the new season up beautifully. Season 2 is now airing Wednesdays on Disney XD, but as I watch everything via the internets I'm streaming from Amazon. Read the rest
