Not all heroes wear capes, people. Take this bear, for instance. Mark Hough of Altadena, California first spotted the bear climbing over his fence. He then witnessed the critter slipping into his (unheated) hot tub for a cool soak. Wait, it gets better. Then the bear knocked over and lapped up the margarita Hough had left by the edge of the tub. Later, the bear was found napping in a nearby tree.
NBC San Diego:
After first spotting the bear, Hough retreated inside, only to later find the furry intruder "bobbling away in the Jacuzzi enjoying himself."
Hough recorded video of the bear lolling in the unheated hot tub with the jets on. The creature played with the chlorinator and tossed the thermometer in the air, Hough said.
"He was playing having a grand old time," he added.
The bear's dip only lasted a few minutes before it emerged and lumbered around the yard. Then it "popped out of the bushes, walked right over to the margarita, knocked it over and lapped it," Hough said.
...About an hour later, Hough was talking to a neighbor when some oak leaves fluttered to the ground. Hough looked up to see the bear slumbering in the tree.

It took 22-year-old Mamoudou Gassama just seconds to reach a child that was dangling from the fifth-floor balcony of a building in Paris, saving the four-year-old boy.
The undocumented migrant worker from Mali was rewarded handsomely for his courageous act. French President Emmanuel Macron met with the man and granted him French citizenship and a job as a firefighter.
USA Today reports:
“Bravo,” Macron said to 22-year-old Mamoudou Gassama during a one-on-one meeting in a gilded room of the presidential Elysee Palace that ended with Gassama receiving a gold medal from the French state for “courage and devotion.”
...The young man said he has papers to legally stay in Italy, where he arrived in Europe after crossing the Mediterranean, ending a long, rough stay in Libya. But he came to France last September to join his older brother, who has lived in France for decades.
Gassama, dressed in tattered blue jeans and white shirt, recounted his experience which took place at around 8 p.m. Saturday when he and friends saw a young child hanging from a fifth-floor balcony.
“I ran. I crossed the street to save him,” he told Macron. He said he didn’t think twice. “When I started to climb, it gave me courage to keep climbing.”
God “helped me,” too, he said. “Thank God I saved him.”

Charlotte Heffelmire, 19, of Northern Virginia, lifted a GMC pickup truck off her father after a jack slipped and the vehicle fell on him while he was working on it in the garage. Charlotte is 5-foot-6, 120 pounds, and was barefoot.
"I felt the weight shift," remembered her father, Eric Heffelmire. "And I said, 'You almost got it,' and then it was just UGHHHHHHRRR, and suddenly I'm pulled out."
The falling car sparked a fire beside propane containers. After Charlotte freed her dad, she quickly drove the truck out of the garage and sprayed the flames with a garden hose. Her grandmother and infant niece raced out of the home as it burned.
According to NBC Washington, Charlotte "suffered burns to her feet and hands, and a back injury has kept her from returning to the Air Force Academy (where she was a student). She said her plans for the future include public service."
There were no reports of a spike in Gamma radiation at the time of the event. Read the rest
