Here's a bonanza of animal ASMR videos, including my favorite of all time!

I recently wrote about research that revealed that many people who suffer from misophonia — defined as a "condition in which specific sounds cause an intense, aversive response in individuals, characterized by negative emotions and autonomic arousal" — are typically only triggered by human, and not animal sounds. If you're one of those people (I suspect it's almost all of us!) who hates the disgusting sounds humans make, but can't get enough of those sweet, sweet animal crunching noises, rejoice, because I have discovered the absolute bonanza of animal ASMR videos.

The treasure of which I speak is a YouTube channel that's straightforwardly but appropriately named "Animal ASMR." What makes this resource a standout among so much other animal ASMR content is the excellent videography and even more superb audio, courtesy of some great microphones — obviously the most important part of ASMR. The top-notch microphones used on "Animal ASMR" capture every satisfying slurp, snort, snuff, and sniff. They amplify every gorgeous gulp, gobble, growl, and gloop. And they reveal every captivating crunch, cronch, chomp, and crackle. Because of their awesome mics, you really do get the full and glorious ASMR effect from every animal featured on the channel — regulars include a tortoise, dog, cat, hamster, guinea pig, snail, and iguana.

I spent some time scrolling through Animal ASMR and watching and listening to many of the videos, and I wanted to share some of my favorites with you. Here's a corgi drinking water, a tortoise eating bayberries, and a Maine Coon cat eating boiled pork. They are all so satisfying — it's like music to my ears! I like this tortoise eating celery the most, though. I might even be so bold as to declare this the best animal ASMR video of all time. It's at least in the top ten, in my humble opinion. Behold four entire minutes of this beautiful tortie chowing down on celery — which is probably tied with carrots and apples as the best ASMR food — and then slurping it up and gulping it down. What makes tortoise-eating ASMR videos some of the best is that they are much slower than most other animals, so we get to savor every measured and deliberate crunchy bite, tongue slurp, and swallow. The extreme close-up angle is cool too, because it gives us a chance to see exactly how the tortoise's mouth works, gloopy saliva and all. In other words, I think this is peak animal ASMR. I hope you do, too! Enjoy!

And if you need more of this fine fellow, here's a playlist consisting of 192 videos featuring the terrific tortoise. That should last even diehard fans quite a while!
