Parents pull the plug on kids playing Fortnite in latest Jimmy Kimmel prank

Jimmy Kimmel can be kind of a dick. You may remember that he's had parents lie to their kids, saying that they stole and ate all their Halloween candy -- all caught on camera, of course. That gag's been running for a few years now. Well, he's got a new prank. This time he's got parents unplugging the TV when their kids are playing the video game Fortnite. As you'll see, like with the "missing" candy bit, the kids don't take too kindly to it. Read the rest

Police: kids are being preyed upon by sextortionists while playing Fortnite

In what feels like the one billionth installment of We Can't Have Nice Things, some pervy asshole's been creeping on Fortnite-playing minors. Over the past few weeks, according to police from the Quebec, Canada area, a number of parents have stepped forward to complain that their kids were asked, in-game and via Instagram, to fire over nude photos of themselves. The payoff: ways and means of advancing their in-game prowess. Once the prick had their hands on the pics, the kid that sent them would be threatened: send more or the ones that the pederast already had would be plastered all over the internet.

From The CBC:

Four cases have been reported in the past few weeks, according to police.

In three of those cases, minors were threatened, and in one, the victim sent personal photos to the cyber-predator.

Sgt. Jean-Luc Tremblay with the Richelieu Saint-Laurent police said the predator, or predators, tried to infiltrate groups of friends by offering them a chance to advance their game in exchange for providing revealing photos.

Police are working with school boards in the area to disseminate information about the sextortion.

Being a kid is already difficult enough without having to endure this kind of horse shit. Parents need to be on their guard and kids need to be educated in how to avoid these greasy shits online. It's a mantra that too many people have had to type too many times.

Hopefully, those responsible will have left enough digital breadcrumbs to be tracked down and dealt with--quickly. Read the rest

Fortnite's "Fortnitemares" halloween content looks fantastic

Zombies, the pumpkin launcher, a new fan firing six-gun, and our old friend the crossbow all make appearances in this trailer for Fortnite's "Fortnitemares" Halloween celebration.

I can not wait to play.

In Season Three the hardest damn challenge, over all 10 weeks, was to get a crossbow kill. Bringing that thing out of the vault is pretty cruel, but maybe they've improved it. I can see how a fan firing Colt Peacemaker type revolver would be a lot more fun than the former Fortnite revolver. That thing was a piece of junk and belongs in the vault.

'Fortnite Season 6: Darkness Rises' trailer and Battle Pass reveal

This quick trailer from Epic sets up Season 6, darkness may rise but silliness will reign.

The Battle Pass looks great. Little Red Riding Hood, the gliders and pets will be fun to earn!

A 45-year-old man arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot an 11-year-old boy who beat him in Fortnite

A 45-year-old man from New York had been playing Fortnight with an 11-year-old boy for months. He then allegedly threatened to shoot the boy, possibly at school, via texts and voice mail through his Xbox, when he lost the game.

According to USA Today:

Michael Aliperti of Huntington, N.Y., is accused of threatening to shoot the 11-year-old, possibly at school.

Aliperti faces a second-degree aggravated harassment charge and a charge of acting in a manner to injure a child, police say.

Stuart Cameron, chief of the Suffolk County Police Department, said Aliperti was introduced to the 11-year-old by other kids playing the game, and they had been playing 'Fortnite' over the course of several months.

Aliperti was released on $10,000 bond after pleading not guilty.

Fortnite contributes to UK divorce rate

Having been married, and having played Fortnite, Fortnite has an awful lot going for it.

Via QZ:

The cause of marital discontent may be shifting in 2018, as the viral online video game Fortnite sweeps the globe. According to a new report from Divorce Online, a UK site offering information and services to people who are uncoupling, 200 divorce petitions filed in the UK since the start of this year cited Fortnite as a reason for the separation.

“These numbers equate to roughly 5% of the 4,665 petitions we have handled since the beginning of the year and as one of the largest filers of divorce petitions in the UK, is a pretty good indicator,” said a Divorce Online spokesperson in the report.

Your home needs an inflatable 17.5' Fortnite Battle Bus

Nothing lets guests know what you expect from a party like a giant inflatable Fortnite Battle Bus.

My brother has bought his own bounce house, and his kids love him for it. I am not sure that buying this huge replica of the Battle Bus will work in the same way.

You can't bounce on it, you probably shouldn't jump on it, and you'll likely have more fun with a Llama Piñata, but...

Thats one huge inflatable Battle Bus.

Interestingly, the bus is cheaper via Amazon than Spirit direct.

Fortnite Summer Skirmish ultimate showdown: NickMercs vs Aydan

All summer long Epic Games has thrown huge money at their exciting series of tournaments, the Fortnite Summer Skirmish. Two players in particular made this weekend's grande finale burning hot! NickMercs and Ghost Gaming's Aydan made Tilted Towers their personal dueling ground.

NickMercs is known for his brutal, efficient gameplay on console with a controller in a game dominated by keyboard and mouse PC players. He is also well known for going to Tilted Towers, a high loot, high action portion of the Fortnite Island. In the $1.5 million dollar showdown finale another console player decided to take him down! Ghost gaming's insanely aggressive Aydan repeatedly landed Tilted and the play was spectacular!

I loved Aydan dancing on Nickmercs eliminated puddle of loot! Face to face they were gracious, clearly in awe of one another's play, and clearly the two players to watch. Read the rest
