Sonic the Hedgehog "porn parody" clearly ignorant of prior Sonic fandom

"Sonic the Hedgehog gets bluer!" announces the press release for a porn parody of the hit movie based on the classic Sega character.

The parody film is titled "Sonic the Vadgehog" and appears to have been conceived, filmed and marketed in total ignorance of all existing Sonic fandom on the internet, furiously horny and curiously religious as it is.

WoodRocket mixes porn, comedy, pop culture, and redefines adult entertainment. Creating popular & high-quality content like Ask A Porn Star, Porn Stars Reading Hate Mail, and porn parodies like Ten Inch Mutant Ninja Turtles, Strokémon, and Laygo, WoodRocket is the future of porn. WoodRocket’s content has been featured in Buzzfeed, Uproxx, Gizmodo, Maxim, Complex, AV Club, Spin, Rolling Stone, The Howard Stern Show, GQ, Vice, Esquire, The Hollywood Reporter, @Midnight, Bon Appetit, and many, many, many more wonderful places.

Here's the trailer, which is quite safe for work.

Second Sonic the Hedgehog trailer shows fixed design

Teaser images of Sonic the Hedgehog offered an ominous glimpse, but the forthcoming movie's first trailer horrified viewers with is unnervingly human computer-graphics Sonic. So furious was the lashing that the filmmakers promised to go back to the drawing board. And here you are, watching the results, embedded above.

It's fine!

Still has an edge of that special Sonic-fandom unwholesomeness...

...but this is definitely what Gen X wanted out of 2020, and they're going to get it.

Filmmaker promises to change live-action Sonic the Hedgehog's widely-disliked design

Reacting to a storm of derision on the internet following the release of Sonic the Hedgehog's first trailer, the filmmakers have promised to redesign the CGI title character before it hits theaters. A lot of work for the animators, and little time to complete it. Read the rest

Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer

They've obviously refined the design since the suprisingly bad model sheet leaked. Now it is perfectly bad, launched on an orbital trajectory from the uncanny valley's curve. But perhaps that's the type of bad you've been looking for in a live-action Sonic the Hedgehog, fuzzy and naked in his Nikes.

I'm listening to covers of Sonic 2's 'Aquatic Ruin Zone'

Ah, the Aquatic Ruin Zone. This jazz cover of the video game music is pretty much PERFECT. The Super Soul Brothers seems like a modern version of Matchgame.

Aw hell, I'll embed Matchgame too.

Sonic the Hedgehog added to thrift store painting

Here is excellent work by Dave Pollot, who improves thrift-store art with the addition of pop culture icons. [via r/gaming]

In another series, he describes how he turned a charming, if slightly uncanny beach painting into a scene from libertarian nightmare Bioshock.

He doesn't just stick to games. Here's a Sharknado perfect from grandma's wall.

My favorite, though, is this lovely painting of Falkor the Luckdragon, from The Never-Ending Story.

You can follow Dave on Instragram, too. Read the rest

Explore the legacy of Sonic the Hedgehog in these truly weird minigames

Four purported prototypes salvaged from a Dreamcast devkit pay tribute to the humor, the weirdness and darkness that surrounds mascot Sonic the Hedgehog these days.

Sonic the Hedgehog is pretty slow in real life

I'm kind of surprised at myself for being drawn to this video of a real-life hedgehog lumbering cutely through a little handmade Green Hill Zone. I thought Sonic fans had put me off hedgehogs.

There's going to be an Angry Birds-branded Sonic game

Sega's Department of Finding Ways to Further Demean and Degrade Sonic the Hedgehog might finally have found a way to outdo his tumblr fandom!

Just look at the promotional box art. Even the Angry Bird looks like he's thinking, "I don't know about this. I really just... Hrm." Read the rest
