Thorin is a ragdoll kitteh who might have the world's longest cat tongue if such things are documented. Imagine that sandpaper tongue waking you up in the morning.
There's an Instagram of Thorin and friends:

I made my own cat scratching post out of sisal cord and a poster tube. It cost more than just buying one.
50' of 3/8" sisal rope ($0.25/foot) winds almost perfectly around a 30" by 2" diameter poster tube ($3.33.) My daughter and I had a wonderful time wrapping the tube up, securing the ends with binder clips, and then using a strip of old bedsheet to hang the scratcher from a doorknob! Rubbing a little catnip on it encourages our Maine Coon to scratch away!
Total cost invested was around $15.00.
Even if reusing the tube, binder clips, and sheet I can easily find an equivalent scratcher for less. Even using cheaper cord only changes things by a few cents.
I'll put the two side-by-side and we can see the wear over time and judge which is more popular. Perhaps my cat will appreciate the love and effort that went into making him a toy.
My cat absolutely loves these $8 cardboard cat scratchers. They go straight into the recycling bin, so why spend a penny more than necessary?
I tried one of the $25 lounger-style cardboard cat scratchers and my picky cat wouldn't go near it. I put out a simple, flat and cheap one? Scratch city. My furniture and carpets are mercifully left alone while these get torn up every 4-6 weeks.
Last night, as I was rubbing the catnip into a new scratcher, my cat decided he wanted to be pet. He ended up pretty covered in catnip and rocketing around the house for 20 minutes.
No doubt you've heard the stories about cats smothering babies where they sleep. Well, there's a tabby cat in New York City that has perpetuated that rumor in a whole new and hilarious way when it decided to sleep where baby Jesus is supposed to lie.
“I was pretty out of it... I was trying to get home as fast as possible to go back to sleep and wasn’t ready for the day at all.”
But then she spotted this cat quietly perched in this outdoor nativity scene's "manger" and snapped this funny shot.
Let's get a closer look at our new "lord and savior"'s face, shall we?

Some new vending machines in Japan are now dispensing "Cute Cute Cat Christmas-chan headgear," a set of holiday bonnets for cats, in plastic toy capsules, according to SoraNews24:
As with all capsule toy offerings, the exact model you get is randomized. Luckily, with only four designs in total you’ve got a pretty decent chance of getting the design you want, and honestly, they’re all pretty cute, without a single dud in the mix...
At 500 yen (US$4.50) a pop, they’re just a little more expensive than average for capsule toys, but still cheap enough to make a great stocking stuffer for your animal housemates or pet-owning friends.
While it's fine to appreciate these incredibly cute product photos and imagine our own felines dressed up à la "Cute Cute Cat Christmas-chan," I think we can all agree that cats. hate. things. on. their. head.
Still... I'd buy one of each if I had the chance.
Fun, fun, fun in the sun, sun, sun. Lister, Rimmer, Kryton and the show stealing Cat are back this October on Dave.
From the Red Dwarf blog:
Red Dwarf XII is the twelfth series of the legendary comedy, once again written and directed by Doug Naylor and following last year's series XI, voted "Best Comedy of the Year" and "Best Returning Comedy" by British Comedy Guide. The original cast of Chris Barrie (Rimmer), Craig Charles (Lister), Danny John-Jules (Cat) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) are back for six brand new episodes recorded in front of a live studio audience at Pinewood Studios.
For the very first time, the rest of the crew discover just how it feels to be Kryten when they're arrested by the Mechanoid Intergalactic Liberation Front. The Dwarfers come across a ship where criticism is illegal, and a space station where the crew have developed a cure for evil. When all the machines on Red Dwarf go on strike Rimmer and Kryten hold a Presidential election, while The Cat faces an identity crisis like never before when he discovers he needs glasses. Lister discovers a simple update of the ship's latest software could be a matter of life or death. Finally, Rimmer decides to leave Red Dwarf in search of a parallel universe where he isn't such a massive loser.
Featuring a whole host of star guests, smart sci-fi and ingenious comedy, Red Dwarf XII returns to Dave exclusively this October.
